New Hope Community Development, an NCST community buyer, completed a single-family home in Wayne County, Michigan and now a new homeowner who earns less than 80 percent of area median income has a fully renovated property for her family to call home.
The homeowner wrote New Hope a letter to thank them for their help and support. She is very appreciative and stated that “New Hope gave her and her children such a lovely home, and gave them hope.” She added that she had immigrated to America, was nervous and did not understand the home buying process. “I had put in an offer on two homes, but I lost out to higher bidders,” she said. “Being a first time buyer, I was at a disadvantage as I didn’t have a big deposit, and I also needed the seller to help me with my closing costs.” When she made the offer on the New Hope home, she was thrilled her offer was accepted quickly, and pleased they agreed to help with closing costs.
The new owner wrote that she closed in 26 days. “My children and I moved into our new home, our home is so very beautiful” she stated. “It has been remodeled to a professional high standard. I really do appreciate that in my new home was a new dishwasher, stove and microwave. This was so helpful for me and my kids, because we had nothing but our clothes. I had no furniture or extra money to purchase items, so this was truly a blessing for us.” She also added that New Hope remained consistent throughout the process, and were supportive and professional. She closed her letter with “From the bottom of my heart thank you again Chris and New Hope Community Development for all your help and support!!!! God bless you all!”
The more than $37,000 in rehab spent on this property included a complete kitchen renovation with a new appliance package, a fully renovated bathroom including a new tub, repaired walls and fresh paint throughout, new interior doors and hardware, new light fixtures, new flooring, and new exterior door and storm door.
